Bugis+ (Bugis Plus) is the new name of the former Iluma shopping mall located in the Bugis area of downtown Singapore. From late 2011, the mall underwent a revamp which was completed in mid-2012. Despite major refurbishing of the interior during the revamp, many of the tenants continued to operate during the period.
With the updated mall relaunch as Bugis+, a new major tenant and crowd-puller at the mall is Japanese casual modern fashion retailer Uniqlo. The chain already has several stores in other parts of Singapore (including Vivocity, Causway Point in Woodlands, and Tampines), but the Bugis+ Uniqlo store will be Singapore's biggest one to date (June 2012).
This youthful shopping centre is located in an area of downtown Singaporre that has an eclectic mix of developments - old and new; public housing, hotels, private hospital, towering office blocks, shopping centres from the 80s, and heritage conservation shophouses. The refreshed Bugis+ mall brings a new air of vibrancy and youthful fun to the Bugis area. Expect this smallish mall to punch above its weight in the retail scene with its revitalized outlook.
Alight at Bugis MRT Station (EW12 of the East-West Line). Bugis+ is located a short walk from the exits.
