Junction 8 is one of the more trendy and busy suburban malls in Singapore. Located in Bishan residential estate, it is well positioned to attract residents from a catchment area that also includes Toa Payoh and Ang Mo Kio HDB estates, and the surrounding private housing estates of Upper Thomson, Sin Ming, Lorong Chuan and Serangoon Gardens.

Shaw Plaza is small retail centre located in the residential and small business district of Balestier. This mini-mall comprises about 30 shops with a general services/products mix, and a Shaw Cinemas cineplex.

United Square is a mixed retail/office development located in the Novena/Newton area. This family-oriented shopping centre has some 150 shops spread over 5 levels.
Quite a number of the tenants here have a focus on children and education - maternity clothes, children's wear, musical instrument retailers and music/enrichment course centres. The other major group are cafes, eateries, fastfood outlets and restaurants - some of which are located in the semi-open basement facing a water terrace.
